Transforming Lives. Restoring Hope.
Copts In Need is a UK-registered humanitarian charity (Charity No. 1138357) dedicated to reducing extreme poverty and transforming lives across Egypt.
Our story began in January 2009, when our founding members travelled to Upper Egypt on a charitable visit. During their journey, they witnessed families living in unimaginable conditions, without safe homes, access to healthcare, education, or the basic necessities of life. Inspired to make a lasting difference, they established Copts In Need, which became a registered UK charity in October 2010.
Today, Copts In Need is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees in the UK and supported by a dedicated network of volunteers in both the UK and Egypt. Working alongside trusted local partners, we identify those most in need and deliver practical, sustainable solutions that transform lives and strengthen communities.
Our work focuses on improving lives through:
- Building and renovating homes
- Education and literacy
- Healthcare and medical support
- Microfinance and income-generating projects
- Emergency relief
- Community development initiatives
We believe that lasting change comes from empowering people rather than creating dependency. Every project is designed to give individuals and families the opportunity to build independent, dignified, and sustainable futures.
Transparency and accountability are central to everything we do. The charity is run entirely by volunteers in the UK, with no UK administrative costs. Less than 2% of our income is used to cover essential operational expenses in Egypt, ensuring that over 98% of every donation goes directly towards funding projects that change lives.
Since our establishment, thousands of families have benefited from our work, and thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we continue to bring hope, dignity, and opportunity to those who need it most.
